Attendance: Please report all absences by calling the school office at 330-926-3803 and press 5 before 9:00 a.m. each day they are absent. We will really miss our classmates when they are absent, so please encourage your child to attend school unless they are sick or have an appointment.
Behavior: We are continuing to follow Black Tiger Pride (Be Respectful, Take Responsibility, Practice Safety) and the 7 Habits. We will continue to use the behavior chart from last year but we will be making a few changes. The chart will have: Green- Ready to Learn, Blue- Great Job, Yellow- Outstanding and Black- Out of this World. If your child is not following classroom rules, he/she will be completing a Think About It form to be signed at home.
Birthdays: Due to district changes in policy regarding birthdays, food items can no longer be brought into the classroom. The district encourages you to donate a book or game to the class, in honor of your child's special day. You may also send in a non-edible treat such as pencils, stickers, etc. if you wish. Thanks for your cooperation.
Communication: Building relationships with the families of my students is essential for student success. Please be sure to check your child's Take Home Folder every day. Please also provide your email address to me as soon as possible. I send email reminders to parents. I will also be sending home a monthly newsletter detailing classroom happenings, upcoming dates and reminders.
Conferences: An important part of communication between home and school is your participation in your child's conference. Conferences will be student led. We will send home conference information soon, and we look forward to meeting with you.
Dismissal: Students are dismissed at 3:20 each day except on Wednesdays, when they will be dismissed at 2:25. Students are led out of the doors in the front of the school at the main entrance.
Email: The best way to contact me is through email. If you don't have access to email, you can send a note in your child’s take home folder or call and leave a message at school. I will respond to your questions as quickly as possible, either during my planning or after school.[email protected]
Facts: Addition and subtraction facts are the foundation for many lessons we learn in math class. Having them memorized is important. Please practice them often at home.
Graded Papers: Your child's graded work will be sent home every Monday in the Take Home Folder. Please take papers out and review these papers with your child. The folders need to be brought back to school every day.
Homework: Homework is for the reinforcement and review of skills learned at school. Your child should not have more than 10-15 minutes of written homework each night this year. They will be encouraged to read at home four nights per week for 15-20 minutes starting in September. If your child is struggling on the homework assignments, please contact me.
Identification: It's important to identify your child's belongings. Please write your child’s name and section number (2-3) on their book bag, lunchbox, coat, boots, binder, folders, and school box.
Jumping to Conclusions: If you have any concerns, please call or send me a note, so we can talk about your concerns and resolve any issues. If you promise not to believe everything your child says, I promise to do the same! J
